Music
In music at Christ Church and St Peter’s CofE Primary School, the children are immersed in a wide range of opportunities.
In Key Stage 1, the children use Charanga to develop their music knowledge and skills.
Whilst in Year 3 and 4, the children are lucky enough to have music lessons from music teachers who come into school. The children are split into small groups and get the opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele or guitar, percussion instruments, violin and recorder.
During the year, the children will learn each of the instruments to develop their interest and skills in the instruments.
When the children are in Year 5 and 6, they will go back to using Charanga to continue developing the skills they have been learning in previous years.
Singing is at the heart of our school. There is a school choir, which is open to any Key Stage 2 child that would like to join, and this can open doors to many different performances during the year. At different times throughout the year, different year groups have the opportunity to sing and learn new songs to prepare them for year group performances. Some of the performances include Carols by candlelight, nativities, remembrance service, Easter, May Day, Harvest and end of year. Every child in school has the opportunity to take part in the service or performance linked to their year group.
Videos and photos from our performances can be found here (opens in new window).
