Intent

Our intention is for all of our pupils at Christ Church and St. Peter’s CofE Primary School to nurture their confidence to interact, ask questions and respect people, traditions and beliefs from different cultures. Learning French, as common foreign language, opens our pupils’ minds to differences between cultures and, in doing so, allows them to understand their own culture and identity more fully.  Learning a language is intended to support their mother tongue through a growing understanding of grammar and the value of international communication.

We encourage learning a language in an ever-widening global world to build our children’s confidence with the hope of opening their young minds to new and future possibilities for travel, employment, the chance to build respectful relationships, healthy lifestyles and to reach their full potential.
