Our Curriculum

Intent

We intend our Geography curriculum to inspire pupils with a curiosity, fascination and respect for the world and its people. We want to open up our children’s eyes to the world around them and the possibilities that exist there for them. We intend too, to develop a sense of wonder and respect for the Earth and its precious resources.

Our geography curriculum has been designed to encourage children to be curious: to ask their own questions and to discover answers to these questions through exploration and research. Children’s initiative is developed through the use of geographical enquiry.

We want our children to gain confidence and have practical experiences of fieldwork to develop their geographical knowledge, understanding and skills and to develop their enjoyment of geography as a subject.

Mastery in geography is achieved through a deepening of pupil knowledge around the common geographical threads (or themes), alongside the development of geographical and fieldwork skills with an increasing level of complexity.
