Intent

It is our intent at Christ Church and St Peter’s C of E Primary School to provide all pupils with a high-quality English curriculum that will teach them to speak, read and write fluently. This will set them up for educational and personal success, opening up a world of possibilities for the future and enabling them to achieve all that they are capable of.

We are passionate about immersing children in high quality texts and developing within them a lifelong love of reading: through exposing children to a wide and diverse range of texts, we aim to open our children’s eyes to different cultures, worlds and the opportunities available to them. 

We want our pupils to leave us having built a strong vocabulary, providing them with the tools to express themselves articulately and confidently and setting them up for future success.

We want all children to master secure handwriting, spelling and grammar such that they are able to express themselves fluently and confidently for a wide range of different purposes and freeing them to develop their creativity and imagination to the full.  

By ensuring our curriculum is relevant, exciting and engaging, we are able to accelerate learning so that all children are fully prepared for the next stage of their education and for their future lives.
