Intent

Our intention in music is to develop a lifelong love for music. We will give the children the opportunity to express themselves through a diverse range of musical experiences and opportunities to perform. Children will be immersed in a variety of different genres of music. <

All children are provided with the opportunity to use their initiative when composing their own pieces of music whilst being given the chance to explore and learn how to play tuned and untuned instruments. There are a range of performances throughout the year that all children have the possibility to participate in including community performances.  Alongside the opportunities to perform, every child will learn about famous composers, be able to sing and listen to music for pleasure and learn about the possible job opportunities that could arise within music. Children will use their listening skills to reflect on how pieces of music make them feel  and how what they listen to can change their mood promoting a healthy lifestyle.
