Christ Church and Saint Peter’s CofE Primary School Demonstrates Commitment to Community, Charity and Kindness

Christ Church and Saint Peter’s CofE Primary School in Mountsorrel continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to community, compassion and charitable giving, with pupils actively involved in fundraising for causes that matter deeply to them and their wider school family.
At the heart of the school’s ethos is the belief that children should be encouraged to show kindness and make a positive difference in the world around them. Pupils are regularly given opportunities to choose charities and causes they feel passionate about, empowering them to take ownership of their fundraising efforts while developing empathy and social responsibility.
Two recent fundraising events highlight this spirit in action. Several Year 6 pupils chose to support the RSPCA, driven by their passion for animals and animal welfare. The pupils independently organised and ran a bake sale, offering a wide range of homemade treats. Their dedication and hard work resulted in an impressive £262 being raised for the charity.
Another particularly meaningful fundraiser was held in support of Ward 27, where one of the school’s own pupils is currently receiving treatment for cancer. This cause is extremely close to the hearts of the school community. Pupils and staff took part in a non-uniform day to raise donations, raising an incredible £409. The funds will be used by the hospital ward to support patients, for example through the purchase of toys and games to brighten their stay.

Executive Headteacher Hayley Ryder-Smith said:
“We are incredibly proud of our pupils for the compassion, maturity and kindness they continue to show. Giving children the opportunity to choose causes that matter to them helps them understand the impact they can have on others. These fundraising events truly reflect our Christian values and the caring nature of our school community.”
These fundraising efforts reflect the core values of Christ Church and Saint Peter’s CofE Primary School, showing how pupils are encouraged to act with compassion, generosity and kindness. The school is immensely proud of its pupils for their thoughtful choices and commitment to helping others and looks forward to continuing to support charitable causes while inspiring children to always lead with kindness and care for their community.
